New to BYC and have been lurking ehile I raise chickens for the first time. Very fulfilling experience so far. We have 4 black Australorp hens we call The March Sisters since they were hatched in March.

Lately I’ve been curious about one of their nares, we’ll call this one Amy. Amy is healthy and eats and drinks well and she is active in the run. Her nares seem to have something in them but it also looks like its part of her beak? I wiped her beak down this AM and have been advised to do so every couple days for the next 2-3 weeks.

The pics I’ve attached are from yesterday.

I’m wondering if there’s anything else I should do or if I’m over thinking it. Would love to hear from more experienced people and get any and all tips. Thanks for your help.
