I have a two year ben that was acting strange. When I checked on my chickens last night, I noticed the hen was in that hunched position that they go into when they are ready to lay an egg, she was breathing really hard, and her comb had turned to a dark purple color. She would thenstumble a few steps and goback into the hunched position. Because my white Cochin were pecking at her, I brought her into the house. This morning, she is no longer in the hunched position, her comb is now a dark red color, but she is still breathing really hard. Does someone have some advice what might be wrong with her?

Too warm?...

Explain everything from breed to feed....
I believe that she is a golden cuckoo marian. I have the hens in our silo room that l cleaned out and fixed it up. I give them egg mash. It is the big gain brand. Have been giving them it all summer. I started to give them suet bricks. They are let out of the silo room on warm days. Fresh water very day. They have the red heat lamps for cold night. Plenty of room.

It sounds feed related...Get on a Chicken feed 18% protein and stop all that other unnessary feeds....
