Conclusions about MMH's All Heavies Assortment

i've noticed that my heaviest roos are they wyondottes. he's actually got some breast meat compared to my marans which are pretty big also but they don't have much breast meat. my next biggest boys are my blue/black orps. they are much bigger than my buff orps. may be because they came from a breeder and the buffs came from a hatchery. i know my RIR girl that came from a breeder is at least 2-3 pounds heavier than my hatchery RIR girls.

i have some dark cornish that i got for free from my feed store and they came from ideal. they are the same age as my FRs and they are growing at about the same rate, if not a little slower. the feel of the meat birds is quite different.

i bought alot of wyondottes from mcmurray last year and culled many roosters since they only sold in straight run and remember thinking how chunky the boys were. at about 10 weeks, they had some plump breasts and were about the size of a large cornish.

oh, and if you have a place where you can sell your chickens, i would buy the minimum 50 from FR.net and keep what you want and sell the rest. that's what i did. i tacked on 50 cents to each bird which helped me with the cost of shipping.
