Hello all. I will be bringing my girl Cornelia Marie home tomorrow after her second crop surgery. She has been at the vet almost a week and has a feeding tube in. I will have to keep her confined to a small area and am wondering what is the best way to do this. Before, she had a 4 x 4 coop to herself but she can't be around bedding or anything she could eat. Should I go out and get a small animal cage so the droppings can fall through the bottom? Is it OK for chickens to walk on cage bottoms? I just want her to be as comfortable as possible. Thanks!

Some people do keep chickens on wire; I don't know what kind, this is just having read it on here. I have also read that chickens can get their nails caught in wire and injure themselves. Perhaps a scrap of linoleum flooring cut to fit the cage bottom, or the 4x4 coop floor, would be a solution?
