Hi all,

I have 1 black Australorp and 1 blue Australorp pullets, both hatched 13 weeks ago from fertile eggs I'd bought.

Today, and 2 days ago, I've found tiny eggs. Only had yolk inside. All my hens are laying their normal sized eggs. Has anyone ever heard of chooks laying this young? They are a light brown/ tan colour which also doesn't match my older girl's eggs.

The black pullet was all black including comb until about 2 weeks ago when it started turning pink.

So confused!

At the end of a laying cycle the color of a hens eggs will lighten, and size may diminish. I would guess that one of your older hens is about to take a break from laying. Although it may not be impossible, I doubt that either of those pullets is laying. They show no signs of sexual maturity.

Hi! My Austras started laying around the same time as yours, tiny eggs, but yummy, they got lots bigger in the next few weeks and most of them are still laying every day - love this breed, my marans and buff orp is hit or miss on laying :hmm

How old are they generally at the end of a laying cycle? Oldest hens are just over 1.
