This is Snuggle. This particular picture was taken a couple months ago.

Snuggle gets a bit confused when he tries to mate. I have seen him chase girls down, grab their wing and all the normal “just learning to mate” cockerel stuff.

But Snuggle also chases this guy around. Like all the time.

This guy doesn’t have a name and doesn’t crow a lot. He has one girl who sticks by his side and he lives peacefully without mating a bunch. Snuggle has tried before to mate with him and chases him like he does the girls. Recently I saw Snuggle mating with a hen but he was backwards. His cloaca was on her head. When he finished he was happy. The hen however was not.

Is there anything I can do about his behavior, chasing/ mating with the other roos and backwards mating, or will he grow out of it?

Thank you, LMAO, I needed that laugh!

How old are your birds? Sounds like they are still trying to figure things out.
Snuggle is 25 weeks. The other roo I’m not sure about. I’m hoping Snuggle is just a weird chicken for now and still trying to figure it out.

He might grow out of it. He also might taste good. He seems like quite the confused guy.
I hope he grows out of it. He isn’t aggressive towards anyone, people or hens, so I don’t think I’ll be eating him. He does get to mate with a couple hens and they actually squat for him. But he wants more than the two hens that will allow him to mate.
