Confused, egg laid from roost

You said there was no shell left behind, perhaps it was a shell-less egg from one of your hens they weren't expecting and dropped it while roosting.

I do have 1 hen with calcium issues, thin shell or occasionally soft and no shell, but i haven't seen those eggs in a little while.

But to add to my confusion I went to check on the chickens just now and Roosty (that's his name) was in the nesting box. On top of that there was a spotted light tan colored egg that doesn't match any of my current eggs, I have one that lays the same shade but not spotted and 2 that lay spotted in other shades. Maybe it's just a color glitch though? I don't know I just can't tell with him he has gotten quite a bit taller this past week and his legs are filling out but i know his breed is a rather large size compared to the other hens I have, so make or female i did know he will be larger then my girls...

I don't know what to think with this boy. But the chick I have also a lavender about 4-5 weeks old has bright red waddles already even more pronounced then roostys duo i might still have a lavender pair either way

I'm certainly no sexing expert but I would put money on your orpington being a pullet from the pic. I know 14 weeks is early to start laying but it's not unheard of.
