Ok, so some of my chickens sound congested. Which would lead me to believe there is a respiratory issue. The beginning of June I filled one of their waterers with antibiotics to help fight off whatever they had going on. Three weeks later they still sound congested.
They all act normal, just breathe like they got snot in their throat.

Both coops have two windows. They are both open and one window in each coop has a small box fan blowing air IN. This is because it’s so stupid hot in the summer. It is also humid, I live in Maryland.
Anyways, I just put this “Wellness Brew” oregano water supplement in their waterers to assist.

I really don’t want to do antibiotics again. Is there any option for treatments anyone would suggest? Is the box fan blowing air in NOT a good idea?

I also ordered 3 other water supplements for them on Amazon.

Also, sidebar question - what supplements should I NOT put in one of those metal waterers? I only have 1 right now

Had you added any new birds to your flock before you saw the symptoms? What antibiotic did you use in the waterers? Have you seen any bubbles or foam in either eye, or any swollen eyelids or faces on one side? Those can be signs of MG or CRD. Chickens can also get viruses such as infectious bronchitis which can cause sneezing and congestion in your chickens for around a month. Dust in feed or in the coop, mold, or other allergens can affect their breathing as well, so having good ventilation and a dry clean coop is helpful. Fans in your coop to blow air through and out of the coop is helpful.

Some of the things that I would not put in a metal waterer are apple cider vinegar and acidified copper sulfate. Read your labels on anything you use. If in doubt use a plastic watere.

Nothing that I saw that fit those symptoms. I used amoxicillin. I had a couple roosters on antibiotics from the vet because they stopped crowing or sounded “off” and they found some bacteria in their throat. But they didn’t seem too overly concerned. I ended up scrubbing their waterers and doing the antibiotics after I cleaned those up because I had too many mice in my run for my liking and assumed they got in their water.

I’ll get their coop cleaned (it’s not really dirty) but I’ll clean them. Anything to spray or use to clean or get rid of any bacteria in the coop?
(I know I could do some googling but at this point I want some helpful insist of what people have used and worked for them)

Thanks!
