I have a question about one of my hens laying eggs. I had an unusual egg layed this evening, it was two soft eggs that were conjoined. The hen in question layed a perfectly heathly egg this morning. Shes a 7 month old isa brown that has been laying since around mid January. She has a diet of layena crumbles, some free ranging, and she and the other 3 hens get some veggie scraps once in a while. I also have oyster shell available for them.

What would have caused her to lay a normal egg in the morning and then two soft eggs that were conjoined this evening? She also is my hen that lays the double yolk eggs and she went egg bound a few weeks ago. She layed two double yolk eggs two days in a row. I was worried about the soft eggs so i gave her some calcium tonight. I crushed a pill and made a little slurry i fed to her with an eye dropper. None of my other hens are having any laying issues.

Could just be that she has a glitch in her system somewhere. Is she a beginning layer, or maybe an older bird? It seems like those are the two ages of birds that tend to have the weird laying issues.
