Background - we incubated eggs from 4-H for a summer project for our 7 and 9 year olds. 5 chicks hatched and we fell in love. They are 4 weeks old now. Murphy’s law may have struck (funny since our last name is Murphy!) and all 5 are looking to be cockerels (we live in the city and are not allowed any roosters). So, we don’t want to spend a lot of money on a coop etc. I am a big fan of using what we have and “make it work” especially in this situation.

So...we have converted our playhouse to a coop and are in the process of creating a run under the trampoline. Now need to connect them. Any ideas? Will likely create a wire above ground tunnel, cut hole in lower part of playhouse, and insert a slide door. But open to anything simple and inexpensive. Thanks!

Here are three of our chicks. Thoughts on hen or cockerel?

Just don’t let your kids bring the sprinkler on the trampoline like my girls used to do!! The chicks will get awful wet
