Hi folks,
I'm Steve. My wife, two daughters (5yrs and 2.5yrs), and I brought home three chicks on Friday. Neither my wife nor I have any previous experience with Chickens.
We have:
Three was the max. we felt we could comfortable fit in our coop (Precision Pet Hen House). I plan to buy or build a shed-style coop over the summer to bring the number up to the 9-12 range. In addition to eggs, we're counting on the ladies to gradually help with the tick population, and most importantly, provide the whole family with a bit of education and entertainment.
This site has been a great resource during our planning and consideration, and I'm looking forward to further engagement now that the flock is actually starting.
Kind regards,
Steve Evermore

We have:
- a Rhode Island Red (Hazel, named by my wife),
- a Buff Orpington (Heart, named by our 5yr old), and
- a Barred Rock (Lunch, named by our 2yr old without any understanding of the humor or irony)
