The likelihood of rodent problems wouldn't be due to the type of feed. Any feed left out at night, spilled on the ground, open containers of feed, the accumulation of stacked objects against walls all provide rats with food and nesting areas. Provide them with an environment they benefit from, and they will populate in no time at all.

With just four weeks to go on this Poll, the response is disappointing - but nevertheless the results are a surprise to me.

Contrary to my experience and that of neighbours over many years, the poll indicates that 0% of mash users have rodent problems, whereas 50% of pellet users do have a problem. Overall, 56% of you feed pellets, and 42% feed with mash.

However, as I said, the response is from a very small sample. To give a better picture, it would be a great help if more of you could reply to the question, and then the promised summary will follow at the end of July. It's very simple to click and reply, and the poll is of course anonymous.

Many thanks,
Alec.
