Considering getting chickens

I have a crushed shell patio (no idea if the shells were treated w/chemicals) in my backyard and I was wondering if this would be an issue with keeping chickens, especially after I read some posts on impacted crops...

Unless the shell is treated with something poisonious, it shouldn't be a problem. Chickens have to have grit or small stones to be able to digest their food.

Thank you for your reply! The shells have been out there for about 5 years, so hopefully if there was any chemical residue, it has been neutralized by exposure to the elements.
