Considering Nashville, TN

Hi All!

I'm considering an opportunity that is located in downtown Nashville. If I moved from MI, my wife (who stays home full time right now) would like to have a large garden/hobby farm (1+ acres). We also have children (5 & 7), both of which are very shy. Can anyone throw some ideas at me at areas to live that can somewhat meet this criteria:

1. Great schools. We are very non-traditional and like schools with more parent involvement in the classroom. My kids are shy so drill instructor types don't work for them.
2. Family friendly (safe, young kids, parks, etc.)
3. Can have chickens and small farm/large garden (1+ acres)
4. Within 45 min commute to downtown

Nashville is a beautiful area. All of TN is quite nice, and if I remember correctly no state income taxes. We're in Central Alabama so I can't answer your specific neighborhood questions, but the climate is certainly more friendly than Michigan. Hopefully someone else will chime in that lives there.
