We have moved out chicks into the coop already, they are right around 3 weeks old. I know they are still kind of young but they were just too big for the brooder the up that we had. The night time temps have been high 60s/low 70s since we moved them, but I have a heat lamp in the coop at night just in case they do get cold. Our coop is large enough to accommodate the lamp and the waterer and feeder if we need to put it in there. But my question is do we need to keep constant food and water for them since they are so little and still growing? I would like to just put the food and water in the run to keep the mess down in the coop. Feed and water spills wise anyways.

I would keep the food and water down at night using a heat lamp. Chicks will get up to eat and drink throughout the night. When you are done with the heat lamp you can remove the feed, and water from the coop if you wish.
