Ended Contest # 4 Edible Easter. 8th Annual BYC Easter Hatch a Long!

I dunno what it is, besides colored sugar! I just saw that it said "edible" and tossed it in the cart. Not even sure if I'll use it yet. Notice, not a chocolate thing in sight!!
You can't have an edible piece of art without chocolate... Rules, ya know.

You have some interesting things to work with there Blooie! What's the Edible Grass thing about? I haven't seen any of that around here.
That caught my attention too. I think it's cut outs from rice paper, if it's that it will dissolve into frostings leaving the colored imprint of the shape. It's how they do picture cakes.
Wilton has a line available in Walmart of sheets of colored rice papers. They can be cut into shapes or lines and laid on your cakes making designs. I've never messed with them but did find them interesting :)

Ok, so I watch wayyyy too many cake decorating shows.

That is interesting. I didn't know that's how they do picture cakes at the bakeries.

I bake cakes but just frost them, I'm not a decorator. (And yet, they still get eaten

Ooh I've always wondered how they did the picture cakes! Now I know, thank you :highfive:

:yuckyuck

I would struggle with baking the cake  Never mind frosting and a picture cake would be totally no no! We have a fabulous little bakers near by which suits me ;)

No. Not really. I don't paint all to often since it takes time, but I do a lot of sketching on random pieces of paper I find.
But since you asked...

It isn't completely finished in this picture. I later painted the flowers red/orange, but I think it turned out pretty good.

Here's a duck one I did a while back.

And a simple peacock sketch.

I wouldn't even bake if I still lived in England :) Victoria sponges, all the way! Our stuff in America is just too different to pull it off well.
