Okay so here was my "broody rooster" last summer

He honestly cared for them like they were his babies. Although we had ordered them from a hatchery and he knew not a thing about them.

This little one is only half-way out of its shell. Its mother, a Cochin, was patiently waiting for many weeks on an empty nest. Eventually I "borrowed some eggs" from a friend, and let Bertha sit on them. This is a picture of her very first hatchling. She looked so proud... I haven't broken the news to her yet, but we are going to be giving the chicks that she hatches back to my friend who "lent them" to us

Momma and the one and only OE that hatched, February 2015 brood...this photo is similar to my entry photo in Chick Contest (used for Avatar too)...do I need to pull that one? I'd rather have the eggs than the incubator (like I'd ever win). Took several shots of same pose for close ups.
