how did sweet little Nugget get in the tree?

Hahaha well it was just a low hanging branch. Nugget's the leader of the pack and with most of her wing feathers in she is not shy of adventure. Every morning when I change the water she flies out of the brooder

I am not experienced with young geese at all but the name Jupiter to me implied the youngin is male. If Jupiter turns out to be female will you keep the name? I love the name. It's cool you came up with it.

It's the craziest thing. Before I even got the geese, I had two dreams in which I already owned one, and I was calling it Jupiter. I decided Jupiter would be a unisex name. I sense Jupiter may be female based on behavior and a few physical characteristics I've researched on this board, but this is my first time owning poultry ever! Either way, Jupiter will be his/her name :)

buffgooseguy, I've long admired your geese. You are one of the posters who inspired me to go with the American Buff.

  1. The name Jupiter is a Latin baby name. In Latin the meaning of the name Jupiter is: Supreme god. Biblical Meaning: The name Jupiter is a Biblical baby name. In Biblical the meaning of the name Jupiter is: The father that helpeth.
  2. Jupiter name meaning - SheKnows

    www.sheknows.com/baby-names/name/jupiter

Phonetically it sounds unisex, (for some reason I associate it more with a feminine undertone). Name meaning

is definitely male...lol I just thought it was interesting and wanted to see what the baby name people
    considered it.

YAY, glad you are keeping the name no matter what gooselet's gender is.

I hope I am not to late with my entries. It took me a while to some good pictures. These chicks just don't like to stand still long enough to get their picture taken. LOL!

Julie, that is Baby Shamus. :) He was my first hatchling. His mother abandoned her nest after a week of brooding. My husband and I ended up making a makeshift incubator in my office. It was so exciting to see him hatch! He used to follow me everywhere. These days, he is much more interested in his girlfriend named Natasha. lol
That is the cutest and sweetest little story. And I love how he went from following you to being more interested in Natasha. What a relief you were able to make the incubator work after his momma left him. Did she just stop sitting? Do you still have her?
