I think I just moved 11 chickpeas to the brooder and another is still pipped in the incubator. They bounce around like popcorn when trying to move them so I had my husband play defense while I moved them to the brooder and I may not have done the best head count, lol! If I remember correctly I left 17 eggs for lockdown...6 eggs left would tell me I put 11 babies in the brooder but I swear I counted 9. :lau I'll update with a proper headcount after they're done hatching. Lol!

Take a picture in the brooder and count from the picture.

The official headcount is 11 chickpeas and there is still one actively pipped in the incubator.
Side note, tiny itty bitty peeps do not make tiny itty bitty poops. LOL

I'm sorry, did I say I would stop updating? I lied. They graduated to pine shavings today! I did assist the last peep back on hatch day. I was told to never assist quail but I have a lot of experience assisting chicks so I caved and she was totally ready and I can't tell which one is her anymore, lol! 12 ADORABLE chickpeas! (Possibly my last update, no promises, lol)
Oh! Any idea what colors they will be?

Since CluckNDoodle posted a couple pictures of her quail chicks here, I thought I would do the same. So far 13 (I think?) of my chickies have gone to the brooder, and 2 more (both with some physical issues) are still in the incubator so they can continue drying off. Another chick looks to be unzipping from its egg, which will make 16 chicks! Some of the ones in the brooder have slightly curled toes, but nothing that will keep them from walking. I attribute this to the incubator's unstable temperature and humidity.

SO CUTE!!! My little late baby that I helped out of the shell had curled toes for a few hours. I think it was just because it was stuck in there for so long. I was going to make tiny booties for it but it ended up working it out on its own, so yours will probably be fine too!

You were right! Its feet are now fine, and it is running around and pecking at the other chick. I think I need to move it to the brooder.
