i have only hatched a few times so far. And i have horrible hatches with chickens but when it comes to duck eggs its a good hatch. My last chicken hatch i set over 20 eggs and only one hatched...and the rest didn't make it...but in the end i had a lot of time to spend with the one that survived and he turned out to be a beautiful rooster that sleeps with my horses at night. Also my last duck hatch i had 2 ducks that had bad legs...they survived but one got killed by a raccoon and the other just recently passed away...

this is one of the ducks that had a bad leg.

Well I was devastated that at what I had done but the three lived. We named them Faith, Hope and Charity. Two days after the accident I found Prissy sitting under the brooder box dead. I buried her next to the barn. I guess she was too old for the stress.

NOW - no more sad stories tonight......

Such a hard story. RIP Miss Prissy.
