Hi, all! My chickens are kept in their coop and run year round due to predators. I do let them out when I can, but it’s not as much as I would like for them. A fecal tested positive for roundworms, and I wormed them with Safeguard paste since Wazine is no longer available. The received their second treatment last Sunday, and I was unable to clean their coop and run that day, and I heard you’re supposed to the same day you deworm them the second time. I’m sending off another fecal Monday, but my question is how in the world do I get rid of these things and keep them under control?? They are in the same place, and unfortunately I didn’t think about the sun’s UV killing eggs, and we have a covered run. I’m at a loss of what to do. I plan on cleaning weekly. Also, is there a safe way to disinfect and kill worm eggs in the dirt run? Any help is appreciated.

Makes sense. Thank you. :)
Your climate has a great deal to do with the type and propensity of parasites infecting birds. Warm moist climates often require worming on a schedule. Cool and/or dry climates have much less of a problem.

I don't know if you can kill the worms in the dirt or not but I would clean the poo daily for a few days anyways. That way they wont eat the worms that are shed in the poo if you clean it in time.

Even though there is an egg withdrawal period, I have been using Wazine but when I went to TSC they no longer carry it. I checked online and apparently it's been discontinued. The stores in my area are no longer carrying it and online it's a small fortune.
