I may be crazy, but I honestly believe that my Silver Sebright hen Willie understands me. I'll ask her a question and she makes a little noise. Or like yesterday when I was talking ABOUT Willie in her presence to my mom but before I could get my full sentence out to express what I was talking about, Willie butted in. I had to explain to Willie that I wasn't talking about THAT... which made her feel better & she went about her picking around... yes... in my mother's dining room. (this was right before Willie went to sit in front of her little mirror to look at herself & to fix her feathers)
Willie also has a very distinctive "voice," that I can be detected from the others. Of course since Willie is vane, it's a very melodic sounding voice. And her feathers... are perfect from hours of grooming herself in front of her own personal mirror in my mother's living room.
Willie & her adopted daughter, a brown Americauna who thinks she's a Silver Sebright both lay their eggs in my mother's dining room. They stand at the front door waiting to be let in and Deanie, Willie's daughter will peck on the door. Deanie, from being told she was beautiful from the moment she arrived, has also began sitting in front of a mirror. (she sounds like a goose honking)
But back to those conversations.
Willie doesn't "talk" a lot but when she does you better believe it's something important. She makes her little noises mostly when I talk with her.
Anyone else have "talking" chickens who hold conversations with you? Or am I the only insane person?
