convert nipple waterer?

Don't buy the waterer. You can just buy the nipples and buy the cups. Try them out on something from your recycling bin to see which the birds prefer, then look for or buy a more permanent container to attach your nipples or cups to.

I would never give up my bucket horizontal nipple setup it is the cleanest easiest
way to go tried cups none worked or had the runs on.. vertical dripped ... birds at
1 month can operate them trust an old lady on this please you will not regret it..
could not find my photo of my bucket I pulled the one off Amazon complete .. you can do that or buy a dozen nipples pay for plastic buckets drill screw nipples in like 3 or 4 per bucket.. I set them less than half way up older girls put then on a brick add cottage cheese containers of frozen water in hot weather
Is it this? I wonder if this would work for my cross-beaked girl?

I start chicks on vertical nipples (in addition to conventional drinkers) and then they learn to use horizontal nipples. I always have a basin of clean water for them too. A combo of different water sources is no bad thing - it provides choice and eases medication should the need arise.

Since it's a mild case of cross beak, horizontal nipples might work ok. You won't really know, until you try it. I would buy the nipples and make your own waterer, it will be cheaper. I haven't read many good reports about the cups, there's a few people that they work for though.
I use horizontal nipples and my chickens all do fine and stay hydrated, even in the heat of NC summers. The bonus is, clean water 24/7. I left my chickens for 8 days, nobody looking after them, with 2 horizontal waterers (10 gal) and they did/do fine. It's not the first time I've left them on their own. I wouldn't do that with conventional waterers or cups. I would be worried that they would get full of bedding/dirt or leak out.
