We converted the bottom floor of our kids playset to a coop for two. It has a wood floor that we covered with linoleum and cover that with hay. I'm finding the hay doesnt work for us...too hard to clean out the poop. I was considering covering it with sand and mixing in Sweet PDZ. But I'm looking for other options too. Can anyone help please.

I use sand in my coop (shed) and love it. I rake it every other day (it is in a very thin layer, which I recommend) and scoop out the poo with a kitty litter scoop. So the more sand I pour in there, the more scooping I have to do. It works great and the place is totally poop free every other day. With only two chickens you might only need to do it once a week.

Wow! very creative congrats on thinking outside the box!! I too have a wood floor, but i use the pine shavings from tractor supply 6 dollars for a 8 cft bail. I put it down thick and clean it out once a week. Cheaper than the hay and works better for me.
