Keeping the water from freezing is likely your biggest issue in winter. The chickens will do fine in the cold. Mine got through a particularly harsh winter here in Chicago (temps down to -10 F at night, not counting the wind chill factor) just fine. However, I did have to use an immersion heater to keep their water from freezing.
Do you have the ability to check their water supply once or twice in the winter? In the pre-electricity days that must have been how it was done.
