I wasn't going to add my two cents, but couldn't resist. First, that is a very nice,.... no great looking barn. IMO the original exterior look should be preserved. The exterior wood siding here in Georgia is GOLD...it takes years of weathering to achieve that look. If you need more weathered wood siding, try buying it.
I'm glad it got cold up there for ya, which makes one slow down," talk about it", come up with different ideas etc. It doesn't cost anything to dream and "talk about it", I try to think about all angles, aspects, viewing angles before I do something...be either adding to or taking away from....I hate saying to myself after completing a project that I wish I would have----------! Even the rusty tin roof/siding adds that flavor of the past.
Preserve the old look, it has CHARACTER and that my friends is something we all try to achieve, but rarely reach. Don't take it away and think before adding to............Thanks for allowing me to blaa, blaa, blaa.
