Best solution is use your handy building skills to build a walk in coop ... 8'X16' minumum for your two dozen hens you want ...
Use your existing coop for growing out your replacement pullets ...
Ditto Both Dos^^^Well ... take a full grown large fowl chicken ... put it on a roost ... how far off center of the roost is its vent? ... since the poop doesn't just drop straight down ... it will have a "trajectory"Then figure in how important it is to you to collect 100%?
Then add in the unpredictability of a chicken to always face the same way ...

I use trays, but the basic idea is the same; to catch the poop. Mine started at 13 inches, four inches below the roost and most of the poop landed on the edge or went over. Very little ended up in the PDZ. Now they are a full 18 inches wide, and still I get some clinging to the edges every now and then, although very little if any ends up on the floor. Why does the poop board need to be so wide?

Chickens can pitch a mean long ball when they want!![]()
I got lucky...they all roost facing the front so yes they all poop in the right spot.Butt(haha!) does it catch them all?
Width of board and distance from roost are important. My poop board is only a few inches below my roost too. I'll have to measure it but I'd guess 4 inches.
No, I raised it a bit. The top of the sand is about two inches below the underside of the roost, which is made from a prefabbed wooden stair banister.Still 4 inches below the roost? I assume both the width of the board as well as the vertical distance factors in a bit.
