Convinced my duck Boba gets sad sometimes

Sounds like Boba and my oldest son would get along. I have two boys and when I brought my youngest son home from the hospital my oldest was so jealous. My oldest was just over a year old at the time, but he marched right over to his new little brothers empty car seat, drug it to the front door and then started pointing at the front door with it saying “out” like he wanted us to throw his little brother out the door🤣 I believe it though and I don’t know how anyone could say animals don’t get jealous. Why else would my horse push the other horses out of the way when I am not showing him attention? Even my one dog does the same thing. If she sees us petting another dog she runs over and pushes them away.
Hahaha, I think Boba's reaction would be 1:1 with your oldest son!

I think I might've screwed up Boba's perception on how ducklings came to be..

Her mating dance to me getting hatching call duck eggs from a local farmer, the eggs not making it, they disappeared for awhile, and we ended up finding call ducklings to bring home, and BAM now she thinks that's how ducklings came to be... Maybe because of the pause between the eggs and the ducklings, she thinks they are hers...

WELP, maybe next summer, Boba might realize...

Yep, see it with horses and my cat all the time. My cat growls if anyone comes outside during her cuddle time. It will be interesting to see the dynamic with the kittens once the are weaned. The dog gets jealous, definitely, and the horses fight for my attention in the field. The three boys come up all at once and they will sniff me, one gently nudges, one rubs his nose on me, and the other nips my clothes. Then the mare shoves them all out of the way, but she's got boss mare/crabby old lady privileges. My chickens used to fuss over my lap too! So yeah, animals definitely get jealous. I am not sure what all you can do about it other than pay her extra attention.

I think Boba's getting used to the little ones, she would sit and quack near them, like rubbing her head mohawk part (she rubs her head feathers on the side of the fabric mesh pen so much, it becomes a mohawk before she flattens it by herself again)

After she spends however many times she would wait till they fall asleep before waddle waddle back towards us in the living room, and she would spend the rest of her snooze and play time next to us, or sitting in my lap. Much cuddles & peas 🥰 Am happy for Boba didn't forget about me. She still lovingly stares at me and give me suspicious side-eyes still!
