cool birds

Just a questions I have always wondered how this worked. So do you like put them in the coop to cool it of? Or do they lay next to it?
Thanks!

I did this for the first time today... I put a frozen of gallon of water in the big coop for the big birds (tomorrow I will put two...I had to get my kids to empty the rest of the milk :D ) in the cage our babies are in I took a couple of 20oz bottles of water (frozen) and stuck them in a gallon ziplock. The babies would climb up on them to cool down or lay near them. the bigger birds were afraid of the gallon jug for awhile then my two BOs figured it out and started laying near it to keep cool

I have a drawer on the floor of the coop and up against the wall the put the ice blocks between the walls and the coop. they get in the box to cool off and on the edge- I also put frozen vet packs under the water dishes I guess you could put the plastic water bottle right in water.

2 firsts today!
my gray bantam just laid an egg, and first time I saw my roo mate, I thought he was too polite.

I've been putting frozen water bottles in the water dispenser and it works, I have to change them out 2 - 3 times a day though. Today I put the water under the coop (their only shade at this point) and they seemed to appreciate it. Supposed to be much warmer next week, so I'm glad to have figured these things out!
