I just ordered 2 stamps including a request to get my cartons back.

I haven't ordered any for the actual eggs though as I never got a decent impression with the one I once ordered (then gave away). Plus I didn't want the expense of searching down a food grade ink or the anxiety of regular ink leaching through the porous shell. But, for my own use and the occasional grin I'd do it if I could do it as well as you have.

I think these venders would do well to also sell equipment for getting good impressions. I was fortunate that my husband's office was able to make me a wood block the size of a carton (for half dozens) that I could put under the tops I wanted to stamp on to support them while I push down (hard). I added a bit of rubber cushioning to it so I'm happy with the prints I get.

IMG_1941.JPG "Imaginary Farms" is my 1/4 acre urban backyard -- half of which is the pool -- hence, the imagination required to get anywhere close to "farm".

Lovely! And you got really nice impressions!

I've already got some carton stamps that I really like but I'm always up for a smile so I'm going to check your site out. Thanks for the tip!

PS Any tips on how you got such clear impressions on round eggshells will be much appreciated too!
Those are not mine. It's the pic of the etsy seller.

I dont see how food grade ink could possibly be a problem. If it were, the eggs that are sold at the stores that are stamped wouldn't be stamped
Afaik the eggs sold in stores are not stamped, they are printed with an ink-jet printer. The result it is the same: There's ink on the egg-shell…
I stamp the date when the egg was laid on my duck-eggs. Would that be considered an illegal »alteration« of a food item by the FDA? And do their strict rules apply to small producers? Yes, i am using food color to stamp the eggs. Not "food grade" or "non-toxic", i use that stuff that is sold in WalMarts to make green/orange Halloween cakes.

I think using food coloring instead of ink is a very smart strategy.
Thank you very much! - The stamp is still made out of super-toxic when ingested, allergy-causing when touched and ocean-polluting when dumped into the sea - rubber.
Tried potato stamps, but scratching a new stamp for every date has proved to be too time-consuming…
