cooling eggs?

what is it? why do you do it? when do you do it?

I do it with my duck eggs. Once a day or everyother day starting around day 7 for about 10 min. Then I mist them with warm water during that period. It simulates the mother getting off the nest and taking a dip in the water.

Chickens that are setting will also get off the nest to eat and drink. I find myself opening up the incubator every other day or so, to check on the eggs.
