Sunday evening I closed both doors to my shop. I thought I had closed the walk through door. The next morning I go down to find the door open and find every chick (over 40)I had hatched in the last 5 weeks dead. I am assuming that the wind that came with the rain that night blew the door open (swings In) but I do have lever handles on the door so it is remotely possible that the coon reached the handle. I lost every Black Cochin,Partridge, and Silver Penciled I had hatched this year. Fortunately most of my hens are laying except for my Blacks. So will hatch until end of August now. That night I sat up with my rifle and below is one of the coons that came running to the shop 1/2 hr after dark. I had enough light from the yard lights to shoot well. Pair of big coons showed up and neither left. Picture of the largest one follows. Never before lost more than 1 before. Won't lose any like this ever again. Different latch and lock already installed as well as self closing hinges.
