Coons Got me

I went out this morning to find the coons had ripped the hardware cloth off my cage I had connected to the chicken coop I only had 5 quail in there but it still pi@@@ me off (you got the point) Put it back on with fender washers and big nails but I don't think I'm going to put them back out there. The garage is a better place for them right now until I can get rid of the problem. Sorry need to vent

How did you connected your hardware cloth to the cage? Was it the standard 1/2 inch 19 gauge hardware cloth?

I have never had anything traumatic happen to my birds. The worst that happened was a cat stalked them. lol

Just thinking, you should have left the cage open, if they are like most predators they will be back tonight. Put a trap inside and hopefully the 'coon will be waiting for you tomorrow morning.

I'm so sorry! Coons are too smart and a bit to brave for their own good. They sure can figure out how to get into trouble. I'd trap them and get them outta there. We had a coon a few nights ago sitting on our deck watching us eat dinner! Last night we heard and awful noise and ran outside to find nothing wrong but I sure couldn't go back to sleep thinking that that coon was after my flocks. I'm sorry!
