Coop Advice

In cold climate go way bigger than 4sqft...... 6 or 8sqft would be better..
Unless you have a solid covered, large run there will be days on end that they may not go outside at all.
....and think about maintenance when it's witchestit cold outside....a walk in coop is a wonderful thing.
And power for heated waterer...and shoveling path to coop.
 
You can use plastic sheeting to make a little greenhouse type run

Depends on framing under plastic and snow load.


Yep, snow can weigh things down quickly, a cubic foot of wet snow can exceed 20lbs... So even with a small run of say 8x10, with a mere 2 inches of wet snow could result in 250+ lbs of snow load on that roof...
