Coop and Run Feedback

That looks great!. I am getting ready to build one of my own and wasn't planning on making one this size but I really like the layout. I may do something like this but I bit smaller.

We tried to keep the measurements so that we didn't have to waste too much wood. It was a big project but, I'm glad I did it this large.

I have thought about that too. I don't want to have much waste. I have bantams in breeding groups so a large space is not necessary but I do want to be able to catch them easily, so a walk-in would be nice. What type of material did you use for the coop exterior? I was thinking I would cover the top in the run as well to keep it from getting so messy when it rained. Was there a benefit to leaving the top uncovered in your coop? Thanks for sharing!

The exterior is just a primed exterior plywood that I got a Home Depot. (48 in. x 96 in. Textured Redwood Grain Fiber Panel Siding). I thought about covering the run as well but, wanted to keep it open for summer air and sun. If we get a huge snowfall then I might throw a tarp over it. If I decide it's too messy then I planned on covering it in the spring.

Looks fantastic! Nice to see the hardware cloth. Lots of people skimp and go with chicken wire. Your people door to the run looks fantastic. You might want an additional lock on your clean out door. If have raccoons they can open barrel latches and will try and pry at any gaps between the door and wall. If it were me, I'd just go ahead and roof it. Roofing my run was probably the single best decision I made.

The front has about a foot so that should be fine. The sides don't have much so I will probably go ahead and cover them. I was concerned about the venting so wanted front to back and side to side as I have read they need a lot of ventilation in there. But, with rain and snow that is a definite concern. Maybe I can buy a side vent to put over it. Thanks!
