Coop and Run Feedback

Welcome to BYC!!
Looks pretty great! Gonna be nice space for your 3 birds.
Read your intro post, put your Upstate NY location in your profile ;)

Roofing the run will be a big help when it snows and well as protecting the side vent on the run side.
Might want to add a window for light inside coop...and cover part of run to block wind and snow in winter.
Got plans for keeping water thawed in winter?
Just a few thoughts, you've got a great start.

Thank you! I am looking for a window now to add. I will probably put tarp over the run for this winter. Also around the wire under the coop. Maybe a thicker plastic that I can take off in the spring. I am going to buy a heated waterer for the winter. So far, the chicks are okay with no window. They even started putting themselves in the coop at dusk and it's only been 3 days! Smart girls! I lock them up about 7:30 and let them out around 7:30am. They are ready by then! Thanks for the feedback!

I chose to roof the run because I'm in New England and get a fair amount of snow and wanted my girls to have access to the outside regardless of weather and without me having to shovel a clear area for them. I'm so glad I did, as the first winter 3 blizzards brought record snowfall so deep it stuck around until may.
