my rooster has a large comb and needs a place to be during below freezing temperatures, and my hens and him need a place to stay while I go away on weekends. I would also love a place for my bantam. She needs a door of her own in the side of a coop and a small run. Just in case she has chicks while I’m away and then she can go in there. I have sixteen birds in all, one is a bantam. I would love some ideas on the square footage of the run and coop. I want it to be fairly small, since it is only for weekend trip uses, and for Napoleon when it is really cold, it large enough that pecking won’t be a problem. Thanks in advance for any ideas! I’m planning to start this project tomorrow.

I don't know your location since its not in your profile. It is easier to offer advice knowing your winter temps. Comb freezing usually occurs during severe cold. It is not likely to start at just below freezing. If you go away for weekend, I would assume your chickens should do just fine in their existing coop. Provide them food and water inside. You are just gone a short time. Many peeps keep their chickens locked up in coop during severe weather. They are at home while that is happening. It is not the end of the world for them to be confined for that time.
I am fortunate to be able to provide my (6 currently) pet chickens winter housing. They stay inside my garage in a special loft I built for them. They also share loft with my pigeons. (don't have any at this time). Main reason for this is my ability to tuck the girls in at evening time. We leave in the dark, and return in the dark. Right about Thanksgiving they make their move. Temps are low for water outside, but main reason is the short daylight. I do provide 12 hours of light on a timer. I also have heated water containers inside loft to provide liquid water. Early Springtime and they are back to outdoor housing.
WISHING YOU BEST..... :thumbsup

You only need a coop for the weekends? CoughCough, you may need more time to plan.
