Predators can get inside a chain link dog kennel unless they're covered in hardware cloth top to bottom.

And even if they dont get in anything they can reach they will grab and try to make the chicken fit through the chain link hole and if not they will just eat whatever parts they can get through the fence, usually their heads.

Then I guess its not an issue on leaving the coop door open. Dogs make the best farm helpers.
