Building a new chicken coop&run. Was worried about drainage and was thinking has anyone dug down 4-5” and installed 2/3” of chipped rock for drainage then the rest with sand or top soil? Was going to run a French drain around the coop itself but was thinking about adding stone as I’ll have to level the area off anyways before setting the coop into its place thanks.

That won't work. Chickens DIG.
Build on high ground and build the area UP with soil. Put a pitched solid roof over the run with a gutter and a downspout to divert runoff away from the structure.
