Coop build in progress *pics*

hello-Bossroo good catch!
I am going to double up on the 2x4's that touch the ground and paint them to slow the potential rotting and that should take the termites twice as long

I didn't want to use treated lumber. I read on here somewhere that chickens will drink from puddles and I didn't want any chemical runoff.

The plan was to use those 2x4's to attach the 1x3 welded fencing on the inside and to attach a 1/4" hardware wire mesh skirt 2ft wide around the outside perimeter to prevent any diggiing under the run/coop.

Try some sheet metal or maybe those cinder blocks that are 1 x 8 x 16 or even bricks, as paint will only deter a termite from one minute to maybe 2 minutes. It will do nothing for fungi as they are microscopic and will enter the wood in areas that might be a little thin or the paint bulges from any moisture in the soil.

Hmmm. I have a pile of old slate flagstone. That should provide a nice barrier and it should be easy to slip under.
OK Bossroo, excellent suggestion. Thanks!

THANK YOU SO MUCH for the close up detailed pictures of your door! I was just trying to figure out how to make a door for my up and coming coop and those pictures are very useful!

I'm in love with your coop by the way.

Did you just make up the plan as you went along or did you have a premade plan?

Glad it helped you Anny. I found the design on this site and just changed up a few things with my own ideas.

Stay Tuned. I plan on putting up more pics. I have had some helpful advice on making my coop better because of posting here.

I have finished my roosts and used the dropping board method to gain more space under. I will try to get pics out later today.
