coop build

well i had thought about that !!! ............... my initial plans were to close it in but I put the chickys in before I did and noticed that everytime a buzzard flew over they all headed under the shed !!!!

I got to thinkin that it might be good for them to have an escape from hawks . My wife looks under and hasnt seen eggs under the coop but she has found a few outside the coop .

I'll try to get some pics of the inside as well ............. its pretty cool !!!! ................... I think anyway ..... 8^)

Fine job...You could always build them some sort of overhang off the back and sides to give them cover from the hawks. Also of course aviary netting is fairly cheap. The coop does look great though. A fine building and some fine birds in that picture! Good Luck!

I'm looking forward to the interior pics, too. A very thorough job, you see why men who can make/fix things are keepers!

A comment about the run- I'd be inclined to sheathe the wire/gate you're using with hardware cloth to stop raccoons from reaching through, and to roof the run when you have time. With such a stunning coop I'd hate to see you frustrated by hawk attacks and the loss of birds by various predators. We roofed ours (see link below) and it helps you to relax, knowing nothing can go over, under or through a run...

I plan on putting electric fence wires along the top and bottom of the fence to keep critters from climbing over or digging under .

Yes that is a deer .............. a foam deer .......... its a 3D deer archery target ............. I'm into bowhunting as well as chickens ............. in fact I build my own bows

Awesome pics. I agree, too-- might be best to keep them out of being under the coop ( for eggs, as well the fact that an ill bird may crawl under there as well) Give them a bit of a roof overhang, or even put an old doghouse in there or something so they can run away if needed. Mine just head into the coop if they're scared.

You build your own bows? That's awesome!!!! You wouldn't live in Northern Maine by chance, would you, LOL-- DH loves bows!

Ha Ha ha !....Love that deer....I had my kids believing me that the deer stood in the same spot for all the photo's....hee hee hee

Love the photo's of the coop...I am green with envy....cant wait to show hubby...nag nag nag....
