My chicks are approx. 9 weeks old. Is that old enough to not use a heat lamp? It has gotten down to about 32 in my shed, and I built them a coop out of straw bales and fence and covered it completely with plastic, except for one end which is open and covered with chicken wire for ventilation. With the lamp on, it was around 50 degrees in the enclosure. I have it on a chain, and raise and lower it according to the temp. It's just tat it seem like just yesterday that they were tiny helpless fluff balls...
