Thanks! Someone stole my load dumper (a large wheeled wheelbarrow that you can dump like a dump truck) so I have been struggling with bagging and putting in tubs and hauling. I rake my leaves into a tarp why didn't I think of using it for cleaning the coop. Unfortunately this weekend I am bagging it for my brother and sister inlaw our garden has enough and there is plenty coming this spring when we get the meaties.
I go by smell. I have a larger well ventilated coop but when it starts to get the amonia smell it gets cleanedout. This is the first winter that I tried using more liter (not exactly deep liter) and it worked great. I cleaned out the coop down to the floor and poured on a layer of lime and then piled in the shaving. I did clean under the roosts one time since it is winter and it was getting deeper there but other than that it was a lot less than before.
