Hi!

On Monday night, it's supposed to get down to 17 F here. I know that's not a lot to you Northerners, but it's significant here. We don't have any heaters, etc. in the coop right now, but we have a Cozy Coop panel heater that we used in the brooder. I'm wondering about insulation. I don't want to go overboard, but I also don't want the girls to get frostbitten. We have the TSC Cumberland Cottage coop, with two longer runs attached. The coop is stationary. The bedding is a layer of Sweet PDZ, then aspen shavings in the coop and timothy hay in the nesting boxes.

Should I do any shoring up in preparation for the weather ahead? It's cold and wet here for the foreseeable future.

Thanks!

Thanks! I was just wondering because it will be quite damp then.
The inside of your coop should not be wet though. I'm in west texas and we're getting down to 0 sunday night. My bigger girls will be in their coop that is draft free and dry. The only ones coming inside with heat will be the 3 week olds. I did add straw bales per suggestions here for them to hunker down in if they desire but again, we will be getting down to 0F.
