Coop Design Look Over

Regular hung windows leak when left open. I opted for a homemade window like this. I have them on two sides so the wind can blow through.

I am going to refit my other one to have these under the poop boards so they can be open even in the winter time. You can put some bent metal over the hinge or a piece of J channel to move the water out past the window sides.

This acts as an adjustable window and roof

Thanks everybody for the input. I do like the idea of plexiglass on a wood frame. The front 2 windows will be regular shed windows, just because I like the look:) The remaining windows would probably be as suggested.

Since I a building on a hill, I thought I may as well build with the slope. Its post frame style construction, it doesn't change the structure much. Of the 2 pictured floors, which would make the most sense? I can slope the floor to the 2nd level or go straight up. The roosts will go above this area, so if I sloped it and had poop boards, would I even need to keep pine shaving in the upper area?

I figured I would post an update on my coop. I'm very happy with it, and the chicks are too. Still a bit of trim work around the windows to secure the mesh better.

That looks good!
Love the angle top door.
Pics of outside, please?
Is that an exhaust fan?
Hope it's dust rated.
What's the stuff under the roost board?

I put a watering system under the poop board. I put a gutter under it that drains through a small hardware cloth covered hole to the ground. Chicks are too little to reach, so I had to make step for them. The fan isn't dust rated, but I had it left over from building my house. I'm ordering a magnetic dust filter like gamers use on their pc cases. Basically super fine screen.
