We used Hardie backer under a tile floor and if that siding is anything like it, I'm so very sorry for what you're dealing with. It was hard enough to put it down on a horizontal surface, I can't imagine going vertical.

I'd take back any whole sheets and just use T-111 instead.

Im sticking with the cement board, but putting it on top of something, like an OSB or plywood.

You want to use osb or plywood sheeting under this type of siding. When cutting this use a set of saw horses with two 8' 2x's laid on top of the saw horses to support the siding, set the saw blade to where it just cuts through it. You can use regular saw blades to cut hardee board siding it just kills the blade. A hardeed board blade is basicaly the same except it has a square set tooth and only has 5 or 6 teeth. Be shure to wear safety glasses and a dust mask it will look like your burning a brush pile under the saw horses when you cut this stuff. This stuff is a pain to work with but will last a lifetime.

I see what you mean byit dissolves nails!!! I went to take it down so I could put the studs up and the OSB, and I didn't even need to really use the cats paw, some I could jsut pull out with my fingers .....

tomorrow when I go buy the OSB I will ask where their harding screws are. Thanks!
