Never been locked in a coop but had a drunk friend get locked in a outhouse, she nearly beat the door to death before someone heard her screaming.

Never have let her live it down!

Thanks for sharing - definitely a bonding moment. I don't think I could crawl through the chicken door to the run - but that is locked too - good thing for a stick that I used to pry the lock there. I was thinking about the nesting box lid - it is one big nesting box - haven't gotten to putting in the dividers for that. But we have had plenty of rain so not only the poo, but wet bedding. Glad I had my cell phone on me. We thought about putting in a small hole with a string handing in the inside, but I figured the chickens would pull it and let themselves out. A friend of mine has a string attached to a fan for his barn and the chickens pull on it and turn the fan on and off. Oh, the coop is solid so chickens can't get out and predators can't get in. But they do have a nice view while they are perching with the big windows in the front. It is good to have fun at our own expense as long as no one gets hurt! And how can you not share? Life is full of fun stories if you look at them with the right perspective!

I posted on this a few years back, but I got locked in the coop in my underpants. and a teeny tank top... (I'm not a teeny lady....) I ended up breaking the door latch off by body slamming it... after yelling and yelling... the kids were in the house, and didn't hear me (they say

Wow, that could have been bad. I am glad you got out ok. I was at least in my "chicken clothes", Old jeans and an old sweatshirt.

I never got locked in the chicken coop but I did get locked out of the house.

I was so used to locking my door from the inside when I closed it that I did it one morning when I went out on the front deck.

I was locked out and ALL I had on was an old red plaid house coat that only wrapped in the front and tied with a belt. Oh and some house shoes. I thought what can I do now? I'm locked out from all doors and windows.

I had to suck it up and make my way through neighbors back yards to the only one in which the wife didn't work away from home. I was so embarrassed with just an old worn out house coat. I was able to call my son at his job and he came to let me in.

At the time I had at least 5 or more outside cats and they followed me back and forth. I thought of a woman that lived here at the time that was not "all there in the head" that walked everywhere while her 7 dogs followed.

Somehow I had forgotten all about my 'lock out" until these stories came from everyone.

To the OP glad you had a phone. Your thread here has given some good laughs. Thanks-I needed that.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one that this has happened to! Last week, my 9 yr old daughter accidentally locked me in the run with our 8 teenage chicks! We have a latch on the inside to keep the door shut while we are in there and two heavy duty latches on the outside of the door. We were playing with the chicks and she went in to watch TV. I sat there for another 15 to 20 min. just enjoying the day and our babies. Then when I went to open the door to leave I realized that I was locked in! Fortunately, I was decently dressed but unfortunately, I did not have my cell phone with me. Our bedroom window is close to the run and I tried yelling for help. But DH was taking a nap with the fan on and could not hear me. I thought about climbing through the pop door since the big side door on the coop was open. But I decided that that was a last resort option since with my luck I would get stuck and the fire department would have to come get me out. Or even worse, my DH would want to take his beloved saw to my coop in order to free me! I just sat down on the ramp and waited to see how long it would be before they missed me. I was pleased that it only took my DH 20-30 min. to miss me and come looking for me! A safety string won't work with the latches we have so I better make sure that I have a cell phone on me at all times! I am sure that I will have to hear this story at family get togethers for the next 30 years!
