Hi friends!

Started my chicken adventure this year and learning a lot from this group. Here is my dilemma.

I retrofitted an old shed into a coop that was at one time a coop as it has a chicken door on the east side. Which is also almost on the property line. So i need to build the run on the north side of the coop. So they will be side by side but the chicken door comes off the back.

Any ideas on how to connect the coop to the run without making it into a huge project?!?

One pic is worth a thousand words. Pics would help to problem solve. How bout building a "chunnel"? How bout doing away with the E side door, and just build a pop door into the run on the N side? Is there a people door on the N? Is that door IN the run? The last door hubby built me was a combination. People door with hinged pop door in the bottom.

I was just trying to avoid cutting another chicken door in the coop. I built quite a bit of the run yesterday and am trying to visualize how to make it happen but it’s looking like for now i will have to cut a new opening. I am going to try to load a few pics.

This the a shot from the back. The chicken door is on the side.

And this is a shot looking through the run right at the coop where i could possibly cut a new door.

Unless there’s any other openings where your run is I guess you would have to cut another door. Is the run going around the side with that window? If it is you could maybe make that a door for them depending on how wide it is and have a ramp. I even saw that one person made a chicken hallway From the entrance to the coop to their run. Made out of hardware cloth. Pretty creative and pretty cool. She said her chickens like to sit in it because the air gets under them and all around them

I can’t really tell the full layout but you could do a simple extension on the side. Mine is pretty complicated with my new coop and porch but I used to have a simple extension similar to this one. I’ll try and find an old photo and post it. Here is my current side extension to the big run.

It’s hard to see but the chicken door is under that window. I am thinking on making a box or Chunnel of some sort. It depends on how long it takes me to finish the rest of it. I worked all day yesterday and had the tools out there and was about to just cut a new door. I just don’t like the idea of the shed being all chopped up on numerous sides...
