I currently have six chickens, and we have a six-chicken coop. The coop has a small run with two small houses that fit 3-4 chickens each. (I let them free-range in a fenced area during the day). I bought some more chicks and built an expansion onto one of the houses out of a dog house. It has perches, ventilation, and straw bedding. I blocked off the other house to make my hens to get used to sleeping in the one with an expansion. Long-story-short, my hens aren't going into the expansion and are all sleeping in one small house. (They are very crowded in it) Do you guys have any recommendations for how I could persuade to start using the new area???

Pics of your coops and runs would help immensely here.
How old are your 6 chicken and (how many?)chicks?

Here is a picture of the coop with the expansion. . .

They are only using the small house connected to the expansion, but not the expansion itself. 2 of them are 3-4 years old and the other 4 we got last spring. There are 6 chicks. ( I closed off the far house)

Are the abutting coops connected inside?
How do they get out to range, I don't see a door?
More pics of other side of assemblage and inside coops, please?

Tough situation there, those coops are so small, difficult to work with.
Integration is harder the smaller the space.

Oh, and..... Welcome to BYC! @Chickens_123
