Well I am thinking of adding a kinda nursery wing to the coop and wanted to get yalls opinion..was thinking that I would build off the entrence we have now take the wood off the door and replace with chicken wire that way they will all get to know each other while the chicks are young that way the transition that I have had so many problems with may not be so hard anymore! Here is a pic of the coop now
Thanks

Why not come off the side instead and build adjacent to the existing run?
If you take out one set of nesting boxes, that could be the 'joining point' between the new small house (no nesting boxes) and the existing one. Make a secondary run and that way the chickens could see one another for a good long while, both inside AND outside.

If you make the interior mesh 'wall' removeable, then all you'd have to do to integrate the two groups would be to remove the 'wall' between them and then the chickens could figure it all out. Or put in back if you need some 'time out' space for grumpy hens or nasty roos.....

I have 8 hens and 2 roos.. I know how bad the chicken math can be and I would rather be prepaired than not and I think going off the back is the way to go I will make the do out of the mesh that way if time out is needed then I can put it up and take it down as needed also be much more easy to keep clean

we went off the back of our coop and added a secondary space (3x5x6). It now has chicks in it and we're getting ready to let them out into the new run we put off that back expansion. This way, when the chicks are young they have a run free of the big girls. The wall separating them will be coming out and replaced with wire so they can start to get to know each other. When they're all big enough, the separation will come down and then they'll be able to use both runs as they like.
